Makerere University Business School graduate and climate change activist, Vanessa Nakate, on Thursday met with Charles, Prince of Wales at a United Nations Climate summit, known as COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The summit brings officials from almost 200 countries to Glasgow to haggle over the best measures to combat global warming. More than 100 world leaders attended the start of the summit Monday and Tuesday, known as the high-level segment, including U.S. President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“The Prince of Wales today spoke to Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate about the role young people can play in ensuring the health of the planet for future generations,” the Prince’s Twitter account announced.

Vanessa Nakate alongside other Climate activists all over the world like Greta Thunberg took part in a march in Glasgow organized by the school strike movement Fridays for Future.

COP26’s overall goal is to keep the world on track for 1.5C of warming, which scientists say will help us avoid the worst impacts

Vanessa Nakate started her activism in January 2019 by protesting outside the gates of the Parliament of Uganda and running a climate campaign of her own on social media.

Nakate founded the Youth for Future Africa and the like-wise Africa-based Rise up Movement. She has since received global acclaim further standing out as one of the handful of youth activists to speak at the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid, Spain.
