Defending Champions Uganda Christian University (UCU) has beaten newcomers victoria University in an opener of this year’s University league shining a light on the season.
The match that started at 3:00 pm Sunday saw UCU lead in the 10th minute after Sekandi Enoch found the target of the Net.
Victoria University came in the second half with more intensity and determination to equalize and get a winning goal but all hopes were sealed when Isaac Oforywoth curved a free-kick into the back of the Victoria University net in the 68th minute.
The win makes it clear that the Mukono-based University is a threat in the league based on the fact that they are the defending champions who won the trophy in 2019 before the covid lockdown which put the 2020 season at a stalemate.
This year’s UFL is the tenth edition and has 22 Universities participating, the highest number of teams to ever participate in the league.
