UCU is not the only University giving out free jabs to students. Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Uganda Martyrs University (Nkozi) have been carrying out vaccination of both students and staff as they prepare to open on November 1.
The students are required to carry a University ID in order to be able to receive the free jab.
The exercise is in line with the Ministry of Health guideline to have all teaching staff and students vaccinated before institutions can reopen. Several other Universities like Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) have warned students that they will not be allowed to have access to studying without being vaccinated first. Students shall be required to present a vaccination card on reporting to campus in November.
Students shall also be required to adhere to the COVID-19 preventive measures on reporting to campus. These shall include: sanitizing or washing hands while in public, maintaining a social distance of at least two meters, and wearing face masks among others.
