Tumwine Serge of FDC came through as the Guild President-elect Kyambogo University with 5116 votes overall after beating off competition from the NUP candidate Mandu Mandwa Elijah.
The guild Presidential race had never been so tight as it was this year. With five guild presidential candidates in the race, it was so difficult for the common man to predict who exactly was going to come out the winner.
Mandu Mandwa Elijah of NUP, Wycliffe Amwesiga Morgan of NRM, Ssekanjako Masudi of People Power, Serge Tumwine of FDC, and Ronald Emanzi of ANT were courageous of men to have aspired for the guild presidency this year.
The beginning of this week saw all the five hold their final campaign rallies at the Banda-based University and the numbers made each candidate believe that they could win for they always say that numbers never lie, and thus everyone had thousands.

Tear gas canisters burst in different places warning the voters of the worst yet to come if they didn’t stay calm and stop causing confusion. Indeed, this was the solution to the problem.
Mandu Mandwa Elijah came second. It is to be remembered though that Masudi was the one the current Guild President John Mbaziira endorsed for guild presidency. Below is the faculty score of the different guild presidential candidates.
One of the reasons for the FDC win over NUP is the division in the NUP party as there was both NUP and People Power. The fact that Mandwa and Masudi seemed to be from the same political party resulted in the division of the votes between them from the people who believe in both NUP and People Power.
