The MUST management through the deputy Vice-chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof Nixon Kamukama confirmed the end of semester 1 however, the reopening dates for semester two will be announced soon. "I congratulate you on completing semester 1 2021/2022. Semester 1 2021/2022 will close on Wednesday, April 27th, 2022 except for Bachelor of Science with Education year three. The reporting date for semester 2 2021/2022 will be communicated to you on May 5th, 2022 after the senate meeting,’’ Part of the letter read. This communication attracted mixed reactions from students as they were left confused about how long the holiday will run. According to the Guild president of MUST, there were two suggestions to be debated, these included having a holiday for two weeks so that the next academic year can go back to normal as it was before covid-19. The other suggestion was to have a holiday for two months so that the university can be reopened in August when the government has released enough money for the upcoming financial year. The semester examinations ended today (27th April 2022) marking the end of the first semester of 2022/2023 at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). The administration promised to let students know when they can report for next semester on 05th/May/2022 after the Senate seating.
