Swearing-in For Makerere University Guild EC Elections Postponed Due To Illegalities

The postponement comes in due to a petition that challenged the illegalities that were involved in the electoral process that saw the new committee being elected into power.

Makerere University has postponed its swearing-in ceremony of the Guild Electoral Commission (EC) which means that the 87th House Guild contenders, who were scheduled to be sworn in on 12th October, will have to wait longer than expected.

The postponement comes in due to a petition that challenged the illegalities that were involved in the electoral process that saw the new committee being elected into power.

The new elect for the Makerere University Electoral Commission Chairman seat, Kananga William, who was supposed to be sworn in on 12th October now has to wait longer until the illegalities are resolved.

A source has revealed that a petition filed by a one, Nyangoma Pamellah, who was vying for the seat of Commissioner of Finance has set the process in a deadlock.

Nyangoma, who was disqualified during her race for Commissioner of Finance, has contested the decision saying that the EC did not present sufficient reasons as she had fulfilled all requirements asked of her.

Nyangoma Pamerah alleges that she was disqualified by Kampi Angel, acting Guild Speaker, who was supporting Nyangoma’s rival in the race.
