Harness Technology to create Impact, students tipped

The NSSF Career Expo is set up to equip university students with knowledge and skills that will enable them explore opportunities in technology for business and career development this year.

With only one day to go, the NSSF Career Expo has taken day two with a panel of 4 speakers sharing a vast range of knowledge and experience about entrepreneurship and technology.

The panel comprised Herbert Olowo, Head of Operations and IT Absa Bank, Brian Namaya Co-Founder Tubayo (U)Ltd, Viola Amumpaire Chief Executive Officer Wena Hardware, and Vincent Tumwijuke, Chief Executive Officer Future Link Technologies.

Under the theme Techno-preneurship; the future of work, the speakers have explored topics; what it means for the youth to venture into techno-preneurship, why to start a career in tech and harnessing opportunities for the youth.

Speaking during the Expo, Herbert Olowo noted that, ’Absa is all about Africanacity and one of the ways technoprenuership is put into practice is through the on-going Ready To Work program in which university students are trained online.

This, he said the Read To Work Program prepares students for life after university through offering them practical skills required in the job market.  

Viola Amumpaire, marketer and CEO Wena Hardware said” I was inspired by the need to help people purchase construction items and materials without going through a third party. I was intentional with the use technology and it helped me learn more about the Hardware business and grow a tech enabled and driven Hardware”.

The NSSF Career Expo is set up to equip university students with knowledge and skills that will enable them to explore opportunities in technology for business and career development this year.
