
Nkumbah University has threatened to deny access to the University premises any of the students, teaching and non-teaching staff members that are not vaccinated against Covid-19.
This announcement was made in anticipation of the re-opening of institutions of higher learning at the start of next month according to a presidential directive.
According to a notice issued on Monday by the Nkumbah University Vice Chancellor Prof. Jude Lubega, only students and staff members with Covid-19 Vaccination Certificates, will be allowed into the University.
‘This communication is therefore to inform you that only staff and students who have been vaccinated at least the first dose, shall be allowed to access the University premises,’ Prof. Lubega said.
“Starting Monday November 01, 2021, the COVID-19 Vaccination certificate shall be required to enter the University,” the Vice Chancellor added.
Nkumba University is now carrying out online learning. In his recent Covid-19 address, President Yoweri Museveni allowed institutions of higher learning to reopen studies for physical learning starting November 01, 2021.
However, Government maintains that schools shall be re-opened ONLY when all members of the teaching staff and older learners have been vaccinated. According to the Minister for Education, Janet Kataha Museveni, about 60% of the teachers have been vaccinated to date.
