Makerere University Business School has revealed that it will host the International Conference of all French teachers in Africa in the year, 2024.
The event, which was held last in 2019 in the capital of Senegal, Dakar, is set to attract participants from over 100 countries across the world.
The event will run under the theme “Social Economic Importance of French Language for sustainability”.
The communication was made by Dr. Milburga Atcero, the Head of Department of Leisure and Hospitality at MUBS during the closure of a ten-day training of French facilitators from four government universities; Makerere University, Kyambogo University, Kabale University and MUBS which was funded by the French Embassy in Uganda.
The training focused on re-skilling French teaching lecturers on the French for Specific Purposes (FSP) and building capacity for the lecturers to be able to design the proper French teaching programs in their respective institutions.
This comes following the adoption of French by the East African Community as the third working language due to the presence of neighbors who use it as an official language including Congo and Rwanda.
Makerere University Business School is the school of business of Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest university. MUBS provides business and management education at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels
