IUIU Law Student Society (LSS) has elected Magomu Ivan as their new President.
The elections were held online on Saturday, 23rd October 2021 in observance of the Ministry of Health Covid-19 guidelines.
Magomu, who’s in his third year of study beat three other contenders, Mutawo Godfrey, Odoi Henry, and Tulyazalwa Mark, in the online vote.
Magomu scooped 120 of the electoral votes, Mutawo Godfrey got 94 votes, Odoi Henry got 57 votes and Tulyazalwa Mark managed 42 votes. 610 Law students were eligible voters but only 316 students voted successfully.
Magomu will take over leadership from Muwonge Ukasha who has been serving as the IUIU Law Student Society Interim President.
Speaking after his won, Magomu thanked the entire student fraternity of the IUIU law school for supporting him and for the opportunity for him to lead them as their new President.
“This is a struggle and I want to thank first-year students for being revolutionary, second-year students for being fundamental, third-year students for being the future, fourth-year students for being the pillar, and diploma students for being vigilant,” he said.
The Islamic University in Uganda is a multi-campus university offering courses at certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main campus of the university is in Mbale, Uganda, about 222 kilometres north-east of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city.
