ICT Minister Baryomunsi to donate digital screens to UCU

Baryomunsi appreciated the work of former Guild President Kenneth Amponda and decided to donate the screens in appreciation

A day ago, as the 23rd Guild Government of the Mukono-based Uganda Christian University headed by H.E. Agaba Kenneth Amponda handed over office to the next Government which launched their multi-million guild project at an event attended by Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister for ICT who was the Chief Guest.

The new Guild Government launched a new Guild Project which included six digital smart display screens and three advanced litter bins.

According to the now-former Guild President H.E. Agaba Kenneth Amponda, the six digital screens are meant to be used by the university administration and guild government on passing out communication in a digital way. “Our initiative has been to make the first necessary step in making and turning Uganda Christian University into a paperless campus,” he said.

“The intention of this project majorly was to set a landmark and we have set it, with time there will be no more paper notice board displays. Not even campaign posters, everything will be moving digital. Students will be able to advertise their businesses “hustles” from these screens at a small charge and that money will be added onto the students guild fund which is meant to help our fellow students who have tuition challenges,” noted Rt. Hon. Musinguzi Denis Kabila the now-former Guild Prime Minister.

While talking about the digital smart display screens, the UCU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi noted that this was a very great idea that was going to even make leadership campaigns in Ucu cheaper as candidates don’t have to spend a lot of money printing posters and flyers hence giving a chance also to the students who are not financially well fairly compete for some leadership positions in the university.
