As the African proverb always goes that even the finest dancer has time to leave the stage, so did the Mukono-based Uganda Christian University’s cherished 23rd Guild Government which has been headed by H.E. Agaba Kenneth Amponda.
Having been elected back then in 2020 and assumed office in the same year, this Guild Government has been an extra hit having built a very great relationship with the University administration headed by Prof Aaron Mushengyezi “Muzeeyi” as they called him and also a great one with the students’ community having left a number of students contented with their service.
The handover ceremony was held in the university auditorium “Nkoyoyo” with Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi the Minister for Information, Communications Technology, and National Guidance as to the Guest of Honour among other guests who included more the students’ leaders from different universities.
These included H.E. Robison Ogwang Apunyo who is the currents Guild President MUBS, HE. John Boss Bruce who is Guild President LDC Kampala Campus, H.E. Among the highlights of this regime was the decision by the entire members of the Guild Government to offer 20 percent of their allowances to be added to the Guild fund so as to help out students who had tuition problems and just like any good government they always worked around the clock to leave office after satisfying their manifesto.
Due to the enormous and tireless work during their service, a few guild officials scooped themselves with the Orombi awards which is an award given to student leaders who seem outstanding from the rest. Among these included; Hon. Mugisha Gavin who was awarded as the Best Male Guild official, Hon. Kasujja Saluwa as the Smartest Guild official (female), Rt. Hon. Having handed over the office, a huge task now awaits the new government headed by HE. Mirembe Racheal Sserwadda who heads the now “female link” as a number of individuals have referred to it she seems to be getting into very big shoes as they kick off their work in the purple house.
